Watching that output appear on her screen, she realized something: machine learning wasn't just about accuracy or algorithms, it could help people make better choices for the planet. Growing up in Hoskote, she always wanted to learn programming. Her interest in the subject grew, and by the time she entered engineering, she had set her sights on a career in data science.

When her college organized the Skills4Future program, Varshini saw it as the perfect opportunity to deepen her knowledge in machine learning, data science, and Python. The program delivered exactly what she hoped for, covering deep learning and other advanced concepts in a structured, practical manner. Her project, Echo Recycling Chatbot, applied ML to a real environmental problem: waste classification. Users could upload an image, and the model would identify the type of waste and suggest the correct bin. Building this project strengthened her skills in web data visualization and other key concepts. Beyond the technical, the program's soft skills training, including mock interviews and group discussions, helped her communicate better. Before this, she had little knowledge of renewable energy or the need for it. Now, she understands why reducing emissions matters and how technology can drive this.

For her, the training provided a complete picture of real-world scenarios and what it takes to build a career in data science. Looking ahead, she wants to work as a data scientist, implement sustainable solutions, and eventually support her parents financially. The program, she says, helped her take the first confident step toward that future.

Coming from a modest family background, I have always been motivated to learn skills that can create a meaningful impact on my future. Rian Hussain remembers the uncertainty he felt on the first day of the Skills4Future program. "What will I learn? Will it boost my profile?" But within the first week, the trainer laid out a clear roadmap, starting with Python fundamentals, then moving through Pandas, NumPy, followed by machine learning algorithms, deep learning, and finally Generative AI and LLMs.

Growing up in Bangalore with both parents in IT, Rian had exposure but lacked direction. Now in his third year of B.Tech CSE at Seema University, he wanted practical skills. The program delivered exactly that: hands-on sessions on data preprocessing, model building, and deployment using Streamlit. The soft skills training—continuing even months later—helped him communicate and collaborate effectively. For his capstone project, Rian and two peers built WhiteVisor, a proactive energy efficiency tool hosted on Streamlit. Using LLMs to analyse electricity bill data, the model clarifies vague billing units and suggests ways to reduce consumption. He learned to integrate APIs, handle real-world datasets, and deploy a working web app.

Before the program, Rian admits, he was only interested in getting a job. But the exposure to SDGs, GPU energy footprints, and green AI concepts changed his perspective. "People overlooked this, so did I. Now I will try to incorporate all my solutions with these ideas." He now aims to become a data scientist or AI engineer with a green perspective and is exploring advocacy and policymaking around sustainability as potential career paths. The program gave him not just skills, but a worldview.

She came from Karikal, where her father works as a pharmacist and her mother is a homemaker. Initially, her parents encouraged her toward engineering—but soon, she found herself genuinely enjoying it. Now studying at AVC College of Engineering, her real passion, lies in AI and ML. She wanted to build more projects in Python and aspires to become a Python developer. Though she had some interest in UI-UX design, the booming field of AI drew her in. She wanted to learn how to use these tools effectively. That's when the Skills4Future program came in.

Through the program, she gained a solid understanding of core AI/ML concepts. The hands-on projects were based on renewable energy datasets. Their core vision was clear: build a sustainable environment without compromise, for future generations.

"It is the best class because you can learn AI/ML from scratch with many hands-on projects," she says. "Doing these experiments and seeing the results feels truly fruitful." Harini wants to build a career as an ai Engineer, a direction she found through the program.

Originally from Coorg, Pratiksha comes from a business family. She is currently in her final year of engineering, living in Bangalore for her studies. Pratiksha remembers exactly what caught her attention: the words "Generative AI" and "sustainability." When her college announced the Skills4Future program, those terms stood out. She had already been exploring Python and wanted to dive deeper into AI/ML. This, she realized, was her chance.

From her first year of college, Pratiksha preferred Python over other languages and was eager to explore AI and ML. The curriculum, which covered Generative AI, sustainability, and real-world applications, was exactly what she was looking for. Her team's capstone project focused on EV adoption and charge optimisation. The main goal was to optimise charging timing. The project also incorporated mapping techniques, emissions tracking, and EV vehicle count analysis, helping planners and users make better decisions for the future. Through this, she learned how to apply AI to solve practical problems in the mobility sector. The program provided both foundational and advanced concepts through real-world case studies and workshops. For Pratiksha, this experience clarified how Python and AI could be used beyond academic exercises, directly addressing sustainability challenges.

Looking ahead, she aims to pursue AI/ML related roles and believes the program has significantly strengthened her resume. She also sees potential applications for her business background, hoping to integrate her learnings from the program into her family's future ventures. Pratiksha strongly recommends the program to her peers. "They provided practical training, great guidance, and most importantly, showed us how to apply for job opportunities," she shares.

Jaswant was born and raised in Bangalore, though his native is Madan Pelli in Andhra Pradesh. His father runs a small printing business, and his mother is a homemaker. He has a younger sister who is still in school. Inspired by an older cousin working as a data scientist in Ireland, Jaswant developed a curiosity for the field.

He came across the Skills4Future program through a faculty-led data science awareness week at his college. While he had some basic exposure to Python, he lacked depth in key concepts. The program gave him structured, hands-on training in advanced data cleaning, machine learning fundamentals, and training ML models. He specifically wanted to master the Pandas library, and the program helped him achieve that. Jaswant worked on two projects. The first was Cyber Words, an AI-powered tool to help citizens draft complaints related to online fraud. The second project focused on green skills: Canteen Buddy, where his team used two months of canteen grocery and waste data to predict and reduce food wastage. This experience showed him how data science can directly contribute to sustainability. He credits the trainers for making the sessions interactive and practical.

Before the program, Jaswant viewed AI primarily as a tool for personal tasks. After the training, he learned how to use AI along with his technical skills to solve real societal problems, while also becoming more aware of data ethics and responsible AI use. Looking ahead, Jaswant plans to pursue further studies. He believes the program has given him a strong foundation for that journey. He strongly recommends the program to anyone wanting to learn AI/ML with practical, purpose-driven training.

Praveen Kumar was born and brought up in Andhra Pradesh and is now pursuing his third year of B.Tech in Bangalore. Praveen was always curious about coding and how the backend of computers work.

He learned about the Skills4Future program through his college professors, who strongly recommended it. Praveen was particularly keen to strengthen his Python fundamentals. In the first phase, he felt a bit nervous, but the trainers created a comfortable environment that helped him open up. The program began with sessions on basic communication skills, resume building, LinkedIn profile optimization, and creating a professional portfolio – all of which helped him overcome his shyness. The technical training then moved to Python objects and classes along with supervised and unsupervised machine learning. In phase two, he was introduced to deep learning and computer vision. A dedicated workshop on EV components gave him practical exposure to electric vehicle technology. The trainers explained every concept using real datasets and practical examples, making complex topics easy to grasp. For his capstone project, his team built a Water Footprint Estimator, a tool designed to help households conserve water. Praveen took the lead in creating the dataset himself. The experience of dividing tasks, collaborating, and delivering a working solution was deeply enriching.

The program changed how Praveen views technology. He now looks at every solution holistically and connects it to environmental impact. A key takeaway from the training stays with him: “Do not save today to waste tomorrow.” Looking ahead, Praveen plans to pursue internships in data analysis, continuously upskill himself, and grow in the field. He believes the program has covered all the essential topics for his desired roles and will play an integral part in achieving his career goals.

Rajeshwari never thought she would end up loving code. Growing up in Bangalore, she was drawn to classic literature and spent her school years immersed in books. Computer science was just a hobby. But when it came time to choose a career, data science felt like the right path. She enrolled in a B.Tech program majoring in Data Science, only to realize that data analysis still required strong coding skills, skills she didn't have. Which is when she came across the Skills4Future Program and the curriculum promised direct applications in Ai and coding, exactly what she needed.

Phase one covered foundation green skills and Python essentials. For someone who had never liked coding, the trainers made all the difference. Their clear explanations helped her grasp Python fundamentals in a way that finally made sense. Phase two introduced AI and ML innovation, with a strong focus on data analytics, her area of interest. She also gained insights into deep learning and how to apply it to better analyze and present data. Phase three was purely hands-on, her team created a smoke detector. For the first time, she used Google Colab and Jupyter Notebook, and learned to work with the YOLO v8 model.

While she knew about sustainability in general, the program inspired her to take action, now tracking her own carbon footprint. Looking ahead, Rajeshwari intends to pursue roles in data science and is actively seeking internships in these fields. The program gave her a new lens through which to see technology, sustainability, and her own potential.

Rajiv C, is a 20-year-old Sivakasi who comes from a family where both his parents work in local factories—his father in a matchstick factory and his mother in fireworks. Inspired by his brother’s belief that "engineers can do anything," Rajiv chose to pursue his degree at a local engineering college, viewing it as a strategic step toward his goals despite others pursuing more prestigious urban institutions. "I always believed in the value of my education, and I saw this as the best opportunity I could get."

“I didn’t know much about AI, Python, and I was even afraid of interviews and speaking in public," Rajiv admits, as the program promised both technical training and soft skills development, he enrolled in the Green AI and Sustainability course. There, he gained experience with TensorFlow and Google Colab, learning to develop AI models with lower environmental impact. "It expanded my understanding of how technology can support sustainability," he noted. The program also helped him engage more actively in class discussions, explaining their processes and approach, and even took ownership during team discussions.

“It wasn’t just about learning—it was about gaining the confidence to dream bigger and step into a future where technology and sustainability work together.” During a presentation, after Rajiv showcased an entrepreneurial idea, the trainer acknowledged his contribution, and the class responded quite positively. Later, after delivering a short speech, the trainer told him, "We will meet again as colleagues in Chennai." Equipped with these technical and interpersonal skills, Rajiv secured a position as a Data Analyst, with an annual CTC of 4.75 LPA. He continues to balance his job with completing his degree, committed to ongoing learning and mindful of the role technology can play in building a sustainable future.

Palak Parmar, a student at Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Global University (KPGU), recently completed foundation course that opened new possibilities in data analytics and artificial intelligence. The training marked her first deep dive into the technical foundations of AI and gave her a clearer picture of how these tools are shaping the future.

Coming from a non-technical background, Palak had always been curious about how AI systems functioned but lacked formal exposure to the field. Over the course of six days, she was introduced to data science fundamentals, Python programming using libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib, and machine learning concepts such as supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, and classification algorithms. She also explored the basics of deep learning, including the structure and role of input, hidden, and output layers in neural networks. For Palak, the most valuable component of the course was the case study. She used real-world datasets to build simple models, apply classification techniques, and interpret results based on accuracy and relevance. “The training was both about learning the tools and about understanding how to use them meaningfully,” she shares.

The training also helped participants think critically about AI’s potential in promoting environmentally responsible practices. For Palak, this intersection of technology and sustainability added depth and purpose to the technical skills she was learning. Looking ahead, she’s eager to build on this foundation through academic projects, internships, and future roles.

Sandesh Sangarwar, a recent Computer Science graduate from KDK College of Engineering, Nagpur grew up in the rural landscape of Mul, Maharashtra—a place where he was the first in his village to access a computer, thanks to his father’s determination as a farmer and former teacher. That early exposure ignited a passion that would shape his future. While strengthening his technical skills through the Green AI internship—where he co-developed a plant disease detection system using ResNet-18 and Streamlit.

For three days of ES session under Advanced Course, Sandesh immersed himself in communication training designed to feel real and relevant. Through mock interviews, group discussions, and presentations, he received personalized feedback that transformed how he viewed his own voice. “The support was incredible,” he reflects. “Every activity was tied to real professional situations—interviews, teamwork, building relationships.” What stood out for him was: active listening, confident body language, and clear articulation—all skills Sandesh now sees as essential complements to his technical abilities. The sessions didn’t just teach him how to speak; they taught him how to be heard.

Today, Sandesh is pursuing roles in AI and full-stack development, equipped not only with Python and deep learning expertise but with the communication skills to share his ideas clearly and convincingly. Despite the significant challenge of growing up in a single-parent home supported only by her elder brother, Sneha's academic prowess earned her a place in Renganayagi Varatharaj College of Engineering with a full tuition scholarship. This investment allowed her to capitalize on her potential and focus on building the technical skills for a promising career.

“I was determined to study engineering,” she says. “The scholarship let me focus on learning, not fees.” Eager to expand her skills in AI and machine learning, Sneha joined the Skills4Future program. There, she moved beyond basic Python to master ML algorithms and Generative AI, while also developing essential soft skills like interview preparation and public speaking. What resonated most was learning how AI can drive sustainability—optimizing energy use, reducing waste, and creating eco-friendly tech solutions.

"Landing this job was just the beginning. Now, I want to deepen my knowledge in AI and grow into a Data Scientist. The Skills4Future program gave me the confidence to believe in myself and aim higher. AI can change the world, and I want to be a part of that change.” says Sneha.

Rohit Malwade is a determined Computer Engineering student at Amrutvahini College of Engineering, Sangamner, driven by a deep-seated belief in technology’s power to create meaningful change. Hailing from a humble background—his father serves as a peon in a government veterinary hospital—Rohit grew up understanding the value of perseverance and education. With unwavering support from his family, he set his sights on a career where innovation meets impact.

Eager to translate his theoretical knowledge into practical expertise, Rohit enrolled in the Skills4Future program. There, he immersed himself in Python programming, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Computer Vision, gaining hands-on experience with industry-relevant tools like TensorFlow, Keras, and OpenCV. He worked on projects involving artificial neural networks (ANN) and convolutional neural networks (CNN), building models that demonstrated his growing technical capability. Beyond coding, the program’s employability sessions helped Rohit develop essential soft skills—from communication and teamwork to interview preparedness. “I learned to present my ideas with clarity and confidence,” he notes. “It wasn’t just about what I knew, but how I shared it.”

After sharpening both his technical and interpersonal skills, he earned a placement as a Software Engineer at LTIMindtree, with an annual package of ₹4.05 LPA. With her father working as a daily wager, meeting basic needs was a struggle. However, her family continually prioritized her education despite their limited resources, which motivated her to dream big. Muthulakshmi K. learned early that education was her family's investment in her better future. Now in her final year of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Muthulakshmi represents how targeted support systems can change lives.

She found direction through the program on Green AI and sustainability under Skills4Future, building on her natural curiosity about how innovation could solve real-world problems. "My father's hard work inspires me every day," she shares. "Despite our struggles, my family always encouraged me to study hard and aim for a brighter future." When the time came for professional opportunities, Muthulakshmi was prepared. Her technical proficiency and growing confidence helped her to secure a Data Analyst role with a CTC of ₹4.75 LPA. Reflecting on her journey, Muthulakshmi recognizes the profound impact. "The program showed me how targeted support can transform lives. Dhananjay A Mahajan didn’t need to imagine where AI could be useful, he’d seen it. Growing up in a farming family in Surat, Gujarat, he often thought about how technology might reduce the guesswork in agriculture. A Computer Science Engineering student at the Pacific School of Engineering, Dhananjay has funded his own education through merit-based scholarships. Motivated by a desire to work on technology that solves real problems, he enrolled in the program to build a stronger foundation in Python, data processing, and machine learning.

His biggest highlight was his project which involved designing a simulated model to optimise energy use in agriculture. He created a system that could suggest energy-efficient practices based on real-time conditions drawing on his family’s own experiences working in agriculture to help tackle challenges farmers face today. The program also introduced him to soft skills and group exercises gave him practice in explaining technical work to others, and short sessions on communication and body language helped him become more confident in how he presents himself.

Today, Dhananjay continues to build his skills through coursework and small projects. He’s especially interested in AI applications that support green innovation and hopes to work as a data scientist in that space. He is especially thrilled at the prospect of helping agricultural families, like his own, with his newfound technical skills. Dhananjay now not only has a strong career goal in mind, but also has a clearer sense of how he wants to contribute to the green innovation space going forward.

Soham Bhapat comes from a grounded, middle-class family where the value of education was never overshadowed by financial constraints. His father, a photographer, and his mother, a homemaker, instilled in him the importance of education and learning. Though resources were limited, their unwavering emotional support and belief in his potential gave Soham the foundation to pursue his dreams without hesitation.
